 Curriculum

  • The Pre-K curriculum used to address reading is OWL (Opening the World for Learning).
  • The K-2nd grade curriculum used to address the five components of reading are Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Curriculum (Phonemic Awareness), West Virginia Phonics (Phonics and Fluency), and Wonders aligned with Ready (Vocabulary and Comprehension).  The curriculum has been aligned with the Mississippi College and Career Readiness Standards.
  • EDI is the learning platform the school will be using.

What will PBIS look like at Claudine Brown Elementary School?

We will be using four consistent school expectations:

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports is a set of ideas and tools that schools use to improve the behavior of students.

 

 

MTSS

Tier 1 - Universal 

  • High quality core instruction for ALL students.

Tier 2 - Targeted instruction (small group or one on one)

  • Provided in addition to core instruction
  • evidence-based interventions for academics / behavior must be provided 3 to 5 times per week for 20 to 30 minutes
  • progress monitor once every two weeks

Tier 3 - Intensive instruction (small group or one on one)

  • Evidence-based interventions for academics / behavior must be provided daily for 30 minutes or more
  • Individual Reading Plan (IRP) must be created based on student's deficit area
  • Progress monitor once every week
